Kinfolk In Stores Now!!!!

ALI & GIPP NEW CD 'KINFOLK' IN-STORES  TODAY

(New York, NY – August 14, 2007)  The collaborative effort from St. Lunatics star Ali and Goodie Mob stalwart Gipp (Ali & Gipp) has arrived!  The much celebrated pairing from two of hip hop’s most respected innovators hit stores today, Tuesday, August 14.  Titled Kinfolk, and released by Universal Motown/Derrty Ent., the new disc showcases the duo’s combined talents and boasts a top-notch array of producers and guest artists. The CD is led by the current single “Almost Made Ya’,” which features Destiny’s Child star LeToya Luckett, and production by the legendary talent Jermaine Dupri.

The clever track, “Almost Made Ya’,” has already been hailed as a sure-fire hit by hip hop critics and radio programmers, and features a classic Brandy sample and the trademark vocal flair of a primed Ali & Gipp primping for their joint return to the hip hop spotlight.
Gipp and I are excited about finally getting our album to the fans that’ve waited so patiently for the kind of display only we can bring," says Ali. Even though we favor different styles, we have always respected each other's skills." Gipp cites their long awaited collaborative effort as “A labor of love and a heads-up to everyone in the rap game looking for something new and different.”

Also included on the new effort is the bouncing “If We F**k” featuring Lloyd and Big Jasper, and the all-star posse jam “All Night (Excuse Me),” produced by Track Starz and featuring many of the St. Louis kin, including Nelly and newcomer Avery Storm, as well as Juvenile.  The retro-sounding “Get By,” features actress Tamala Jones, and reminds all comers of Ali & Gipp’s tremendous range as a hip hop team.  Other guests on the album include Three 6 Mafia, Bun B., David Banner and more.

The two stars have earned their bigger-than-life reputations by hammering out their respective niches in the game’s diverse and competitive hip hop hierarchy. Ali made his debut on Nelly's 9X platinum groundbreaking debut, Country Grammar (2000).  The St. Lunatics member was also featured on the group’s platinum certified album, Free City (2001).  Gipp has been one of the main cogs in the "Dirty South" movement since the mid-'90's as a leader of the groundbreaking, platinum-plus group Goodie Mob.

Ali & Gipp Interview With BallerStatus.net – Check It Out

Much like Cee-Lo did with Dangermouse earlier this year as Gnarls Barkley, Ali and Gipp have paired up to fuse two different styles of music to create some special. Ali of Nelly's St. Lunatics and Gipp of the Atlanta vets the Goodie Mob, have been running into each other for a while now, and after Ali convinced Gipp to come over to add a verse on Nelly's recent smash, "Grillz," the partnership began to flourish.

After almost three years of creating music and setting up a deal with Universal through Ali's connects as President of Derrty Ent., the rappers are just about ready to reveal their new album, Kinfolk, to the world.

ALI & BIG GIPP SCORE #1

Ali & Big Gipp Score #1 Record

At Rhythm Crossover Format

New Album 'Kinfolk' Debuts Later This Summer

(New York, NY – May 26, 2006) Hot off the heels of their smash hit #1 single “Grillz,” Ali, of the platinum selling group St. Lunatics, and "Dirty South" impresario Goodie Mob alum Big Gipp score the #1 most added record at the rhythm crossover radio format this week with their debut single, "Go ‘Head" from their collaborative CD Kinfolk. Kinfolk, due in stores late summer ‘06 is on superstar rapper Nelly's record label, Derrty Ent., an imprint with Universal Motown Records.

“Go ‘Head,” produced by up and coming St. Louis native Trife, is an anthemic summer song that combines "midwest swing" with southern crunk. The “Go ‘Head” video was directed by newcomer Melina and will be serviced to video outlets soon.

"Gipp and I started hanging out a while back and found that we had a lot in common," says Ali. "We're both considered leaders in our crews, we're fathers and even though we have different styles, we respect each other's skills." Gipp describes their collaborative effort as “the best of both worlds-- the St. Lunatics kicked off the midwest movement and Goodie Mob helped establish southern rap, that’s why I say it’s the best of both worlds. Plain and simple."

In that spirit, Kinfolk has a mix of songs featuring "St. Louis" kin:  Nelly, Murphy Lee and Derrty Ent. newcomers, Chocolate Tai and Avery Storm; "Atlanta" kin Cee-lo  and other southern all-stars include JuvenileDavid Banner, Three 6 Mafia and Bun B. The album collab also contains a mix of mid-west and southern producers including the St. Louis hit-makers Jason "Jay E" Epperson and The Track Starz, Atlanta's uber-producer Dallas Austin and other talented newcomers.

Ali made his debut on Nelly's 9X platinum groundbreaking debut, Country Grammar (2000).  The St. Lunatics member was also featured on the groups' platinum certified album, Free City (2001).  In 2002, he released his own noted solo album, Heavy Starch.  Ali guested on various albums including the Longest Yard soundtrack as well as the Coach Carter soundtrack. Gipp has been one of the main cogs in the "Dirty South" movement since the mid-'90's as a leader of the groundbreaking, platinum-plus group Goodie Mob.  The thought- provoking, Atlanta based foursome broke down the wall of East Coast/West Coast dominance in 1995 with their debut album Soul Food.  The pioneering group's subsequent albums, including 1998's Still Standing, and their steadfast alliance with fellow "Dirty South" phenoms Outkast, forever cemented their reputation as one of hip-hop's most innovative groups.  The original members began embarking on their own journeys in 2002, with Gipp releasing his first solo album, Mutant Mindframe, in 2003.

Currently, Ali & Gipp are gearing up for promotional performances, details to follow.
